Meet Jonathan — the boy behind an angel ❤️

Jonathan is 12 years old and lives with his grandmother in Namyunyumya, a village in Uganda that RedEarth has been supporting for more than 16 years.

Jonathan is an orphan and, because he has missed out on so much schooling, he is currently in Primary 3 at Lubira Primary School. Normally, children in his class would be around 7 or 8 years old.

But Jonathan has something very special.

Jonathan is wonderfully creative

He has an amazing natural talent for making things. He has been making these little angels — and his creativity has already begun to make a difference beyond the school gates.

Jonathan has taught a local women's group how to make crafts, which they are now selling in the nearby trading town to earn an income.

We want to help nurture that talent.

A school and a community we know well

Lubira Primary is one of the schools at the heart of RedEarth's work in Namunyumya. We have recently helped the school build a new kitchen, a block of toilets and a three-classroom block.

It is important to us that Jonathan has the opportunity to stay at school, catch up on the education he has missed and develop his creative abilities.

Looking further ahead, we want to help him continue to Bishop Willigers Secondary School, where he will have the opportunity to study Fine Arts and develop his artistic talents further.

You can help Jonathan's story continue

If you would like to do a little more, you can make a contribution towards his school fees and help give him the chance to remain in education and develop his remarkable creativity.

RedEarth Community Action (RECA), our locally-led Ugandan NGO, will manage any money raised for Jonathan's education. Funds will also be set aside to help support his transition to Bishop Willigers Secondary School when the time comes.

Every contribution, however small, can help Jonathan stay in school and give his talent a chance to grow.
